CPEC to integrate 3 billion people for shared development’

BEIJING: Minister for Interior, Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday said that Pakistan is poised to play a greater role for peace, security and development of the region due to its historic and cultural links and strategic complements.

Talking to Secretary General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Rashid Alimov in Beijing, the minister expressed Pakistan’s readiness to deepen all-round cooperation with SCO member states in trade and connectivity, infrastructure development, security, culture and people-to-people ties.

About China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Ahsan Iqbal said the mega project could integrate three billion people of South Asia, China and Central Asia for shared development and prosperity.

The SCO Secretary General appreciated Pakistan’s membership of the organization and said that SCO’s expansion has given the organization a new impetus and strength to work for the betterment of the region.
