Belt and Road Initiative
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a development strategy proposed by the Chinese government in 2013. It aims to enhance connectivity and promote economic cooperation among countries primarily in Asia, Europe, Africa, and beyond. The initiative consists of two main components: the land-based “Belt” (referring to the Silk Road Economic Belt) and the maritime “Road” (referring to the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road). The vision behind the Belt and Road Initiative is to foster regional and global integration by improving infrastructure, trade facilitation, investment, and people-to-people exchanges. It seeks to create a network of economic corridors, transportation routes, and industrial parks that can promote economic growth, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding among participating countries.
